About Us....
Our new centre is located at 17 Main St. South, in the heart of downtown Waterdown. Office Hours*: Group counselling will be held at undisclosed locations within the Flamborough community. After Hours crisis & support line can be accessed through Interval House of Hamilton, 24 hour a day, 7 days a week at 905-387-8881. As a program of Interval House of Hamilton, the Flamborough Women’s Resource Centre provides support services for all women in our community. All of our programs are confidential and cost-free! Some of the programs offered include: Information and Community Referrals The FWRC is a starting point for women. If you’re looking for a service in the community, we can help you find it! Our Resource Coordinator is available to offer presentations on a variety of topics that affect women to your agency, business, or community organization. Call or email today to schedule an event! Advocacy and Support The FWRC plays an integral role in our community, building awareness, serving on committees and working to make change through empowerment of all women today. Legal Advocate Program The Legal Advocate Program was developed by Interval House of Hamilton in 1992 and has since supported thousands of women in, or leaving an abusive relationship. The Legal Advocate Program assists women in navigating today’s complicated legal systems including police, legal aid, family law, criminal law and immigration law. Through resource provision, our Legal Advocate can also help you to find the right lawyer for your needs. Accompaniment and support to any court proceedings is also be available. Your safety and privacy are always a priority. Individual Counselling Changing your life is a process, not an event. Our compassionate counselors will assist you in identifying your options so that you can make informed life decisions. Specialized counselling for women who have, or are experiencing abuse is also available. Confidentiality is paramount. Employment Counselling In combination with our Women Getting Work Program, individual support is available to provide you with a full assessment, job searching skills, résumé writing, computer skills, interviewing skills, and how to make a positive, lasting impression both in the interview and as an employee. Call now to jump start your career today! Peer Support Our Peer Support program offers confidential, individual support in a safe and trusting environment for you to discuss any of life’s challenges. Transitional Housing Support Our transitional and housing support program works to provide information and support on topics such as safety planning, assessing relationships, housing, financial matters, counselling referrals, shelter and other community referrals. Women’s Groups (Group counselling will be held at undisclosed locations within the Flamborough community). |
