Ruby Slipper Men's Walk

3rd Annual Ruby Slipper Community Walk to end domestic violence...

Women living in rural areas of Hamilton (Flamborough, Dundas, Ancaster, Glanbrook) often have less access to immediate supports (police, transportation, counselling, shelter etc.) and this can leave her at higher risk of potential harm. For women living in domestic violent homes critical response and safety planning is important to increasing her safety and risk of homicide. Local 911 response times can vary throughout Hamilton but due to large geographical areas it could be longer than what it would take in city. In addition, without any shelter and limited transportation opportunities women living in violence face additional safety risk. We are here to help bring services and supports closer to the Flamborough community.
Working with the police and other supports services we are helping women develop rural safety plans that help reduce her risk. Please support the on-going work to bring more resources to women in this community.
We are funding through private donations and community grants.
